Meliorist view of human rationality

“Meliorist view of human rationality

The Problem:

Stanovich describes the “Meliorist” view of human rationality as one that recognizes errors of judgment, and assumes that improvement is possible. The joint paper by Kahneman and Klein (2009) summarizes the conditions under which human judgment is generally accurate, and conditions under which errors are likely to occur. Using the Kahneman/Klein conclusions, present a set of recommendations that might be adopted by a Meliorist who is serious about improving the rationality of human judgment. Justify these recommendations.

Your answer should go beyond simply describing Kahneman and Klein’s conclusions. You have to translate these conclusions into specific recommendations, then explain why you make the recommendations. It may be helpful to consider some specific situations where a person’s judgment is important.
